Eire of Magic is trained on the gold Coast by David Kelly and he is owned by John Joyce and Wayne Pope along with a 3rd partner John Burns.
Oakey as he is fondly known as, in the stables, recently raced in the Prime Ministers Cup at the Gold Coast Race Club.. 7th May...Well he was called the winner - but ended up in a photo finish coming 2nd but it was worth the trip up there to see him race...especially with such an exciting finish. Oakeys racing colors had disappeared in the Jockeys room and were unable to be found prior to the race so he ended up racing in the Club colors. Wayne, his wife Michelle, John and I along with some friends that are always there when Oakey races took David and his partner and one of the young strappers out for dinner at UNO's at BroadBeach...very beautiful Italian food and I will certainly visit there again.
Next Day John and I drove up to Brisbane to see Shane, Cassie and our beautiful grandson Noah...Shane asked us to meet him at Hogsbreath as they had the restaurant open for Mothers Day Brekkie...Yummo! It was a huge brekkie and I enjoyed it immensley! Then off we went shopping at Chermside and I spent some of my race winnings on a Breville Mixmaster.....which when we arrived home and I unpacked the box...It was missing a beater and also had a huge scratch on the top of it...Down to Target the next day to have it replaced and they did without a query....Also called into DFO on our way back down to the Gold Coast and bought some new kitchen gadgets........I love looking through Kitchen shops!
Drove home Monday after going around to the stables to see how Oakey was after his big race....He was eating up a treat....and looked great!
Tuesday was rest day...
Wednesday was a day of cooking....Date Slice...Need to find a better recipe..this one was not all that good. Also cooked another Lumberjack Cake and a Caramel Walnut slice....Which I will definitely be making again....It was enjoyed by everyone that had a piece.
Thursday and Friday...back to work....That was last week taken care of....
Last Saturday...My friend Lynne and I went to the Artists and Farmers Market at WestPort Park.
Bought some lovely fresh food. After the markets we went down town to do a few chores..then off to Spotlight and Lincraft to buy some wool to try and make a copy of a scarf that we had seen at the Markets....looking forward to making the scarf on Wednesday. Will try and take a photo to upload.
Well that has been the extent of my life for the last week or so....
Cheers Annette
